This is an installation and my first foray into generative audio. It is produced with a number of laptops, or a number of televisions and DVD players.

The DVD player constantly chooses from eight tones and one rest. Each tone is of a varying length, and has a colour associated with it. Seven notes at seven different length intervals and an eighth note as silence and associated with the colour black. The machines play a random symphony of light and sound – sometimes harmonic, sometimes dissonant.

In 2010 a cooperative, international exhibition of Doom Organ took place, called the Doom Organ Trials. Exhibitors could download the Doom Organ DVD image, then play it on as many laptops or DVD players as they liked. The installation was, therefore, reproduced all over the world, proving its scaleability and ease of use. Here are some examples:
