This Relationship Diminishes Us Both is designed to be installed in a gallery context and is a closed audio/visual loop which relies on silence for reliable image reproduction.

The camera takes an image at a predetermined interval or upon an environmental trigger, it then converts that image to a sound file and plays it back through the loudspeaker or PA system, capturing it on a microphone and then recompiling the image, complete with the noises present in the room. The captured and converted images are then given names reflecting the date and time and can be sent onto various social media platforms if desired.

The computer shown is not indicative of the finished piece and is just meant to illustrative of the I/O loop.

Rather confusingly I set this up demonstration with one of the Laser Paintings and an early version of the Pi Portable. It is independent of either of those experiments.
